Just when we thought the summer was over, and with it our hopes for a good comic book movie, along comes Blue Beetle. Is it the greatest comic book movie ever? No. But it might be the best of this year, and that’s not nothing.
Enjoy!

This is an episode that we recorded awhile back, but are just now releasing on the regular feed, our director spotlight on Richard Donner. Was everything he created gold? Absolutely now, but he helmed some of the most influential pictures for a generation of moviegoers. So this week, sit back for awhile and listen to us talk about the highs and lows of Richard Donner.
Enjoy!
We had several technical issues on our Oppenheimer episode, so if you’re confused by times when we all don’t seem to be there, that is why. That said, we still managed to give most of our thoughts on the latest film from Christopher Nolan, and even with chunks of it missing, this episode still makes more sense than Tenet.
Enjoy!
Let’s keep it simple, this movie is pretty great. If you haven’t seen it, go watch it before it’s out of theaters, then listen to our episode. If you have seen it, go see it again to help bolster its box office numbers, then listen to our episode. If for some reason you don’t want to see it, you can just listen to our episode.
Enjoy!
This week we are discussing the horror/comedy from 1996, The Frighteners. Though there is enough from that movie to fill an episode, we also talk about a lot of the other movies we’ve been watching lately. And like most things we watch, some of them are good, and some a really really bad.
Enjoy!
Ezra Miller is a garbage person. We won’t everyone to know that even if The Flash was a good movie, it would still be kind of awful because of how terrible Miller has been IRL. That said, The Flash didn’t really impress anyone here at COtR, with the range being somewhere between “meh” and “the worst comic book movie ever”. Definitely an entertaining episode.
Enjoy!
Like most movie nerds, Indiana Jones is a character and franchise that means a lot to us. Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny may not live up to some of the originals, but was it enough that we didn’t leave the theater feeling angry?
You know what to do.
Enjoy!
This week we are discussing the latest film from Wes Anderson, Asteroid City. As is the case with most of Anderson’s films, if you like his style, you will probably like this one, and if you don’t, you won’t. We happen to like what he does, but we know that he isn’t for everyone. That said, please feel free to listen to find out where this particular film compares to his other work.
Enjoy!
This episode is a few years old, but with a new Spider-Verse movie out there, we thought this would be a good time to revisit this classic episode.
Enjoy!
This week we are talking about the the animated masterpiece, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. There is no reason us to play coy, we all loved this movie, and we spend most of the episode just talking about the parts that we loved. It is every bit as wonderful as we hoped it would be.
Enjoy!
This week we are talking about the new sequel to a rebooted franchise, Evil Dead Rise. We were all a little let dead by the first one, but we were holding out hope that the new would could surprise us a little. Ther’re a lots of opinions, both high and low, but you’ll just have to listen to see where we came down on the movie as a whole.
Enjoy!
Roy was right, the names in this franchise are out of control, and someone really needs to step in a do something. That said, this week we are talking about Fast X, the tenth film in this massive “street racing” franchise (eleventh if you count Hobbs & Shaw). Is it a perfect movie? No. Is it a good movie? …Maybe? We aren’t really sure, but we were happy to spend an hour trying to figure it out.
Enjoy!
Before we post our episode on Fast X, please enjoy this long episode we recorded for Patreon on the rest of this franchise. The highs are so high, the lows…well they’re still pretty entertaining.
Enjoy!
That third John Wick film really divided us here at COtR, but with stellar reviews, and success at the box, could John Wick 4 be the movie to unite us? Oddly, yes, yes it did. Against all odds, we saw eye to eye! It’s a John Wick miracle!!!
Enjoy!
The time may finally be upon us where we are just getting a little too exhausted by all the comic book movies. Is it that it is all too much, or has the quality of the content just been getting worse and worse. Could be a little but of column A and a bit of column B. Still, that doesn’t mean we aren’t going to watch what comes out and record about it for you, our dear dear friends.
Enjoy!
This week we are talking about the new fantasy/action/comedy, Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, but we don’t stop there. It has been awhile since we all recorded, so we went ahead and played catch-up on all the things we’ve been watching the last month. I don’t like to rate our episodes, but this one is solid. Let’s be honest, sometime we are phoning it in, but we all really brought our “A” game for this one.
Enjoy!
This week we are reviewing our first silent film on COtR, Sherlock Jr. When this film was requested there may have been a little bit of trepidation because a nearly 100 year old film isn’t really in our wheelhouse, but when we saw that beautiful 45 min runtime, we were all in. There may have been varying degrees of enjoyment from the group, but each of us were still entertained. Turns out, Buster Keaton, pretty good a what he does.
Enjoy!
This week we finally around to one of our listener request episodes, Blue Ruin. There aren’t many movies that can unite the four of us in our opinions, and it is very possible that this film was not up to the task. Just listen to the episode, if you want to know how each of us came down on this one.
Enjoy!
This is the last of our episodes from the “Cabin Chronicles II”, and it watching The Final Girls was one of the high points of the weekend. A tongue-in-cheek send up of slasher movies that avoids many of the cynical pitfalls that a lot of parody movies fall into. An excellent movie to watch with a group of friends.
Enjoy!
